Artist Statement

Danette Standing is the artist behind Standing Rattle. Handmade in Montana, Danette combines traditional and natural materials by using copper, seed beads, porcupine quills, antler, mirrors, and buckskin leather. Danette values quality workmanship that will stand the test of time.

Danette is an enrolled member of the Fort Peck Tribes located in northeast Montana. She grew up on the reservation, living there for 20 years and now calls Livingston, MT home.  She hopes to return to her reservation one day to maintain her family’s original homestead.
